VICTIM OF NARCISSISTIC ABUSE
Like many of you who have found this page, I am also a victim of Narcissistic abuse. However, I didn't understand narcissists' depravity until I caught the abusers red-handed in something so egregious that I could no longer live in ignorance or denial. Climbing my way back from disillusionment and victimization took willpower and research. It didn't take long for everything to click once I discovered what Narcissistic Personality Disorder was--not just someone with an overly inflated ego.
DO NOT BLAME YOURSELF
I know some of you criticize yourself for not being able to recognize the signs sooner. Don't blame yourself. Narcissistic Abusers are like a slow-acting poison, lulling you into a state of relaxation and then priming you for abuse. I have a master's degree in Psychology and I am a former Psychology Instructor, so you would assume that with my background, I would recognize NPD in the people closest to me—family and romantic partners. Tragically, I did not, and not only was I targeted for abuse, I, like so many others in the field of Psychology, branded NPD as just another unfortunate psychological disorder and only saw the impact it had on the disordered NPD individual, not others who were unlucky enough to be in their orbit.
There are many valuable resources to help with the emotional trauma you've endured, and I have listed some at the bottom of this page. This site is dedicated to protecting you from the Narcissist's tactic of abuse by proxy.
My focus is to help you protect yourself from the Narcissist's false accusations with strategic planning. You'll be able to predict what they will accuse you of, shore up your defenses, collect evidence, and document in a way that the courts, law enforcement, and any government agency will deem credible. I will help you discover vulnerabilities and develop strategies to protect yourself with free information and worksheets. I also offer some fun merchandise to increase awareness of the disorder and support our community of scapegoats.
ISOLATION AND ATTACKS
Narcissist abuse victims like ourselves are usually left to research the disorder independently. Once we understand what has happened, the moment of freedom and clarity turns murky as victims realize they're generally left to find the pathway out of the abuse on their own, especially once we learn we have very little
ISOLATION AND ATTACKS
Narcissist abuse victims like ourselves are usually left to research the disorder independently. Once we understand what has happened, the moment of freedom and clarity turns murky as victims realize they're generally left to find the pathway out of the abuse on their own, especially once we learn we have very little, if any, social support as a smear campaign unbeknownst to us has been going on behind our backs for years. Two of Narcissists' main goals before an attack are to isolate their victims from emotional support and to gain control over or deplete their finances.
Further compounding the hellish landscape in which the Narcissist has painted the victim, the victim finds that there is little to no understanding of the disorder by society or the professionals whose job is to support victims. Instead, victims are left alone to sink or swim—to heal and defend themselves. I write to defend because a Narcissist frequently uses flying monkeys, the family, civil and criminal Court systems, fictitious reports to government agencies such as Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services, and the police to abuse the victim further.
Protection involves creating a community of support, a strategy, and a protective shield of evidence.
SHARING WHAT WORKS
It is essential to prepare for a Narcissist attack. Unfortunately for some of you, the rule of no contact and leaving the narcissists may not be possible, or even if it is, there is still no guarantee the abuse will stop. SHARING WHAT WORKS
It is essential to prepare for a Narcissist attack. Unfortunately for some of you, the rule of no contact and leaving the narcissists may not be possible, or even if it is, there is still no guarantee the abuse will stop. The abuse often can and does take another form. Once you discover a Narcissist, you become a threat to them. You've recognized the abuse tactics and maybe exposed them. Now you represent what it is they hate about themselves and deny. They see two ways out of this predicament: either regain their control over you or destroy you. Being able to predict what they will do and preparing for it is how you defeat them. Narcissists win by catching their victims unaware and off balance, which leads to victims making bad choices based on emotion and reacting from a place of fear. You can take this advantage away from them and turn the tide in your favor.
TRUTH
While I believe even if you do nothing, the truth of your abuse and the abuser will eventually come out, who wants to wait and endure harassment, smears, and emotional torture? Set yourself free from the hell the narcissist intends to put you through by simply preparing. My worksheets will give you a defense strategy the narcissist will not see coming.
